Deutsche Telekom launches Webpage front-end optimization
New Edge Optimizer service fully optimizes Webpages on the fly
BONN – January 14, 2014 – Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS), the international wholesale division of Deutsche Telekom AG, announced the launch of Edge Optimizer today. The new service provides substantial performance improvements for static and dynamic content.
Edge Optimizer is based on the CDN technology of EdgeCast Networks, which has integrated Google’s PageSpeed front-end optimization (FEO) technology into its site acceleration offering. This integration is the first implementation that executes PageSpeed logic directly on the edge server closest to each end user—a fundamental architectural distinction that provides key improvements in site performance.
With this major step, Deutsche Telekom can now provide significant enhancements in speed for static and dynamic content to its customers worldwide.
Customers can select from many best-practice optimizations to apply to their content. These optimizations are conducted on the fly, i.e., on the edge server closest to the end user without any changes to site code.
“We have seen an up to 77% improvement in site performance with Edge Optimizer in comparison with Websites without this service,” says Matthias Maurer, Head of Product Marketing Internet & Content, Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions.
With Edge Optimizer and the underlying Application Delivery Network (ADN), ICSS complements its CDN Solution portfolio, which is based on a global footprint and supports content delivery requirements, be it caching, multi-platform streaming, premium storage, content security and in-depth analytics. Value-added services and the Web-based, self-provisioning portal complete the CDN offering.
